The invention relates to a method for measuring the acidity in a gastric system of animals such as cows. A pH sensor is introduced into the rumen or a different part of the gastric system of the animal, for determining the acidity of the environment of the part of the gastric system in which the sensor is located. The sensor is adapted to enable remote and wireless reading out of the measured acidity by means of a reading device.
