The invention relates to an installation for separating elements of a chosen length from several steel sections, in particular, wire, ribbon and strip-shaped sections. The installation comprises at least one device which continuously advances the material section at high speed, at least one stationary cutting device, having at least one mobile blade and a control unit. At least one cutting device (1, 1') is provided for each material section (M); each cutting device (1, 1') can be individually controlled by a central servo-valve (4) which is connected to the control device (3), in order to rapidly separate elements of equal and/or different length and the stroke of at least one blade (8) on the cutting device (1, 1') is selected depending on the material thickness of the material section (M) to be severed.
