The optical device has a device for optical focus setting for an object observed along a sight line, a device for detecting the object distance, a measurement unit for detecting the inclination angle from the earth datum line to the sight line, a satellite signal receiver, a data processing computer and an information display for targeted representation of data for the object. The computer processes the distance value, which varies with the focus setting, and characteristic data for the set object appear on the information generator according to the program and in a targeted manner.
