METHOD FOR TRANSFORMING CHORDS

The invention relates to polyphonic musical instruments, whereby chords are interpreted not directly but after a preliminary treatment which transforms said chords into chords having a similar sonority but displaying different musical characteristics. The inventive method comprises the following steps: a narrow-type initial chord is obtained which has the form of a list of musical notes containing at least three notes; a wide-type final chord is formed, whereby the number of notes in said wide chord is at least equal to the number of notes in the initial chord, said notes being left unmodified and/or transposed into another octave; and the final chord is emitted. In the initial chord, the note with highest tonality is determined, whereby said note is included unmodified in the final chord, and each note of the selected subset of notes to be transposed is transposed into another octave. The tonality of the transposed notes is always lower than the highest note of the initial chord, on the account of what it is possible to take narrow chords on the piano and to obtain broad chords such as guitar chords with a high number of voices (notably up to six) while maintaining the highest note of the chord.
