A gliding or flying hydrodynamic disc (100) designed for recreational use under water is disclosed. The disc (100) is circular and about 12 inches or 300 mm in diameter, and about 1 inch or 1.198 centimeters high. Circular grooves (102) on the surface of the disc provide a grip surface. The weight of the disc (100) is determined to allow the device to generally maintain equilibrium while under water. The disc (100) is made of a first central core (108) of a rigid material such as polypropylene, and an edge (110) of a softer material such as a flexible polypropylene. In another embodiment of the disc, the disc (200) can have a hollow central cavity (232) with vent holes (230) to allow water to flow into the hollow central cavity (232). In a third embodiment of the disc, the disc (300) has two identical halves (302) which are snapped together using a boss (312) and a pin (314). The identical halves each have outer edge tabs (304) which are over molded with the softer material.
