<p>A pair of dental burs (12 and 14) for shaping mandibular teeth into the proper sloped configuration for lingualize occlusion of denture teeth. The first bur (12) is provided with a non-cutting central portion (34) that is flanked by two slightly angled cutting surfaces (30 and 40), and the second bur (14) is provided with a cutting central portion (48) that is flanked by two slightly angled non-cutting surfaces (44 and 54). The angulation of the two cutting surfaces (30 and 40) on the first bur (12) may or may not match each other on a given set of burs, and the angulation of the two non-cutting surfaces (44 and 54) on the second bur (14) may or may not match each other on a given set of burs, but the angles (A and B) of the cutting surfaces (30 and 40) on the first bur (12) match the angles (C and D) of the non-cutting surfaces (44 and 54) on the second bur (14). The burs (12 and 14) are used sequentially; i.e. the first bur (12) is used first and the second bur (14) is used second, to achieve the desired slope and center fossa for the mandibular teeth without cutting too deeply.</p> |
