The invention relates to an air filter (10) for an internal combustion engine in a vehicle, for transmitting sound into the interior passenger area or the driver area, in order to inform the driver about the operating state of the engine. Said air filter (10) comprises an air filter housing (11), a filter insert (26), an inlet (12) for untreated air and an outlet (13) for clean air. The air filter housing (11) is formed by a housing wall (22) into which at least one membrane (16) is introduced. Said membrane (16) consists of a material which is more permeable to sound than the housing wall (22). The shape and position of the membrane (16) can therefore be used to generate and propagate sound specifically. |
