A method suitable for manufacturing a disc-shaped optical registration carrier, wherein a light absorbent, deformable layer (5) is applied to a grooved substrate (4) and said deformable layer is melted into the substrate (19) at least near an outer edge of the substrate a reflective layer (6) is applied to said deformable layer, and subsequently a protective layer (7) is applied to said reflective layer.
