The single or multi-layered hollow cylindrical inner sleeve (1) is made of plastics. Its inner diameter is slightly less than the outer diameter of the associated core with which the print sleeve later forms the print cylinder. A single or multi-layered hollow cylindrical outer sleeve (2) is made from plastics separately from the inner sleeve and its inner diameter is slightly less than the outer diameter of the inner sleeve. The outer sleeve is fitted with a rubber layer (22) on its outer circumference. The inner and outer sleeves are pushed into each other to form the printing sleeve by temporarily widening the outer sleeve and they then fix together by friction. The rubber layer is polished on the outside to a cylindrical shape and the surface of the rubber layer engraved.
