The texturing tool(2) is a negative tool whose surface structure(4) dimensions lie in the nanometer range. Independent claims are also included for: a) a process for producing a textured surface(7) on glass, metal or plastic using the claimed equipment in which the tool surface texture(4) is transferred by impressing into the surface to be textured; b) a use of the process and equipment for texturing large areas of plastics(5), especially thermoplastic or thermosetting materials, in particular window panes, displays and vehicle head lamps to increase resistance against soiling or wetting.
