The press includes a traveling panel (3) which introduces the sheet (4) used to coat the workpiece. Below the upper press platen (1) a holder retains the sheet when the panel is retracted from between the platens. An Independent claim is included for the corresponding process, in which the sheet (4) is introduced between the platens, separately from the workpiece (6).
