The invention relates to a removable covering module for a passenger compartment of a motor vehicle. The module is characterised in that it comprises a side roof panel (6) for each lateral side of the vehicle, said panel consisting of an essentially bow-shaped piece which is fixed to the vehicle structure. These panels (6) each support a removable insert (8) which forms the "rear window" of the vehicle and a flexible roof device (7) which can slide between two end positions; a position in which it is folded back on the insert (8) and a position in which it is unfolded and covers the vehicle passenger compartment.
