An apparatus for producing radioisotopes comprises a nuclear reactor (30) maintained in a vacuum; a material feeder (20) for supplying the nuclear reactor with raw material (R) consisting of a nuclide necessary for producing a radioactive isotope; an optical system (10) for emitting laser pulses to the raw material (R) dispersed in the nuclear reactor (30) so that a nuclear reaction may occur in the raw material (R) to produce a radioactive isotope; a collector (40) for collecting molecules PI containing a radioisotope nucleus produced in the nuclear reactor; and a radiation shield system (50) for preventing the leakage of radiation from the nuclear reactor (30). A nuclear reaction occurs in a particular, very small area, thus requiring a much narrower space in the nuclear reactor.
