Elongated side lays 30 are mounted on pivots 32 to enable them to make end-to-end contact with the tips 40 of castellations 42 along the sides of each sheet 12 whatever the angle, within adjustable limits, at which the sheet sides may be skewed. The side lays are mounted on respective cariages 26 reciprocable by power along guides 28, the carriage of assembly 24 being moved into an operative position which is fixed by an adjustable stop 34, and the carriage of assembly 36 being acted upon by a spring 38 to urge each sheet into contact withthe side lay on the carriage of assembly 24. The lay itself comprises a line of ball bearings 50 (figure 2). |
