Naphthalocyanine chelate complexes of the formula I, which contain aluminium, gallium, indium, tin, ruthenium or, preferably, germanium as the central atom M, and wherein the other symbols are as defined in Claim 1. The complexes may be used, inter alia, for the photodynamic chemotherapy of tumours.
