PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for easily and surely removing an unnecessary coated film sticking at the end part of the electrophotographic photoreceptor used for an electrophotographic recording system, etc., so that products of high quality can be obtained. SOLUTION: As for a conductive substrate 4 as the substrate of the electrophotographic photoreceptor, an under coat layer is formed on the outer surface of the substrate 4, thereafter, the resultant substrate 4 is dried in a state where the cylindrical part 2 of a metal jig frame 1 whose temperature is lower than that of the substrate 4 is inserted into the upper and lower ends by an appropriate length. And then, the metal jig frame is detached, and the conductive substrate is cooled down to a normal temperature, thereafter, the under coat layer at the end part of the conductive substrate is cleaned and removed. The coated film at the end part is easily and surely removed by setting the dimension of the metal jig frame 1 and the shape condition of the frame 1 to be desirable ones.
