PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent recording signals of an adjacent track from erasing by side fringing and moreover to prevent an effective track width from narrowing by forming track forming grooves provided in both sides of the gap in a sliding surface so as to become orthogonal to the inclination of the gap. SOLUTION: A magnetic head is composed of two cores CA and CB, and track forming grooves TH and TL are formed by trimming in both sides of the gap G in the sliding surface. The track forming grooves TH and TL formed in the both sides of the gap G in the sliding surface of the magnetic head are provided so as to become orthogonal to the inclination of the gap G. Thus, the whole magnetic flux within the gap G in the case of recording are made to flow orthogonally to the gap G. Therefore, when recording is executed with the magnetic head, bending of the magnetic flux in the track edge is eliminated, the generation of side fringing is prevented, the effective track width is also widened and an output of reproducing is improved.
