PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magnetic recording medium having enhanced heat stability of written bits and reduced medium noise and capable of executing high density recording having high reliability without exerting adverse influence on performance of the magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: This magnetic recording medium is provided with at least one exchanged layer structure and a magnetic layer 109 provided thereon. And this exchanged layer structure comprises a ferromagnetic layer 107 and a non- magnetic bonding layer 108 provided thereon. At least one layer of the ferromagnetic layer 107 and the magnetic layer 109 is constructed so as to be formed with a granular film wherein ferromagnetic crystalline particles are uniformly dispersed in a non-magnetic base material.
