PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the floating of a recording medium in the vicinity of a carriage frame by installing a means for holding the recording medium at a position facing the ink discharge surface of a recording head, a means which is installed in the carriage frame and holds the recording medium between it and a recording medium holding means, etc. SOLUTION: Frame spurs 18 which are rotors as a holding means for making a recording medium 1 holdable between it and a conveyance belt 30 over the whole width of the belt in a carriage frame 19, and the belt 30 is moved by holding the medium 1 by the spurs 18 during discharge to enable the discharge of the medium 1. The spur 18 is a rotor which has a small contact surface with a sheet and, even when it is contacted with the sheet surface side on which an ink image is recorded by the discharge of ink, does not disturb the ink image. As the rotor forming the holding means, a roller can be used.
