PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce periodic abnormal sound generated from the periphery of a fixing device by providing a heat insulating sleeve with a slit parting in one portion in the circumferential direction. SOLUTION: A heat insulating sleeve 1 of a fixing device is formed by a cylinder 1b with a flange 1a, one portion in the circumferential direction is parted by a slit 2, and both side abutments 3 of the slit 2 are shaped to overlap each other in the axial direction, for example, the whole surfaces of the tip faces of the abutments are surfaces inclined to the axial direction. The slit 2 has an angleθof 20 to 60 degrees to the center line B of the sleeve shaft, and a difference in level is produced in the parting part to prevent looseness, and prevent resonance of a fixing roller. When the angleθis under the above values, the difference in level is easily produced, and when it exceeds the above values, there is the possibility of breakage. By this arrangement, the generation of periodic abnormal sound can be restrained.
