PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for producing a thermoplastic resin composition which has good moldability, heat resistance and impact resistance and can give molded articles having excellent glosses and definitions. SOLUTION: This method for producing a thermoplastic resin composition comprises mixing a maleimide-based copolymer with a thermoplastic rein and then thermally melting the mixture. Therein, the maleimide-based copolymer is mixed in a powder state having a weight-average particle diameter of <=1,000μm or in a powder state containing the particles having particle diameters of >=500μm in an amount of <=50 wt.%.
