PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove an existing door frame for remodeling a door in such a manner that damage to a finished building surface is prevented and the place of the existing door frame removed can be directly used as an opening for installing a new door frame therein. SOLUTION: A series of cutouts 21 each with a groove width of about 3 mm are cut in a finished building surface 2 containing an existing door frame 1 therein, in such a manner that each cutout 21 is parallel to each frame part 11 of the existing door frame 1, spans the overall length of each frame part 11 in the longitudinal direction, and is about 1.5 cm away from each frame part 11, so as to define a parting line for remodeling. Thereafter, the existing door frame 1 is removed by a removing device. Thus, mortar on the inside of the parting line for remodeling, together with the existing door frame 1, can be forcibly broken to provide an opening for installing a new door frame therein.
