PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a face image recognition device which can precisely a face image by securely capturing the face image of an arbitrary person of different height. SOLUTION: First and second position image input parts 101 and 102 input face images of a subject 108, 109, or 110 while changing the visual field vertically. An image position detection part 103 detects relative positions of the two face images inputted by the 1st and 2nd position image input parts 101 and 102. An image composition part 104 puts the two face images inputted by the 1st and 2nd position image input parts 101 and 102 together into one face image. A face pattern detection part 105 detects a face pattern from the one composite face image obtained by the image composition part 104. A face pattern recognition part 107 recognizes a face image by comparing the detected face pattern with reference face patterns previously stored in a face pattern storage part 106.
