摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determinate the quantity of a surface functional group of carbon black, especially, the quantity of a carboxyl group, phenolic hydroxyl group and carbonyl group thereof safely, simply and rapidly at an extremely low cost. SOLUTION: A method and apparatus for quantitative analysis of a surface functional group of carbon black comprises a gas generating process for heating carbon black to generate the gas caused by a surface functional group and a detection process for bringing the gas generated in the gas generating process into contact with a detection agent discolored by the contact with specific gas corresponding to the molar quantity of the gas to discolor the detection agent. By this analyzing method and apparatus, the concn. of the specific gas can be measured on the basis of the discoloration quantity of the detection agent by the contact with the gas and the quantity of the surface functional group of carbon black to be enalyzed can be determinated on the basis of the measured concn. of the specific gas.
