PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magnetic tape cassette which realizes an optical favorite color tone and which prevents the occurrence of erroneous detection in the tail end of a magnetic tape (transparent leader tape) during the prescribed operation mode. SOLUTION: In this magnetic tape cassette 1 provided with the reel 6 around which a magnetic tape T is wound, upper and lower halves 2, 3 housing the reel 6 and the opening and closing lid 4 covering the magnetic tape T, at least the upper and lower halves 2, 3 are formed by mixing such an extent of a white pigment as capable of reflecting or interrupting light to a resin becoming a base with colorant consisting of such an extent of a saturating color as becoming a favorite color tone.
