摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct color irregularity caused by the irregularity of light transmissivity (illuminance irregularity) when the thickness irregularity of liquid crystal is generated by the warp of an LCD with a microlens. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal projector is constituted as follows. The Newton ring of the LCD 5 for R, G and B colors is observed by an interferometer so as to grasp the thickness irregularity. Besides, data for correcting the illuminance irregularity caused by the thickness irregularity is previously stored in the LUT of a memory part 2. The video signals of the respective colors are converted to digital signals by an A/D converter 1 and inputted to a correction part 3. Then, amplitude is corrected based on the data from the memory part 2 and converted to an analog signal by a D/A converter 4. Besides, it is inputted to the LCD and optically modulated. The modulated light beams of the respective colors are synthesized by a dichroic prism and projected on a screen by a projection lens.
