PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic matter treatment device for restraining a running cost for deodorizing. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a treating tank 1 that houses carriers of microbes to decompose the organic matter and decomposes the organic matter such as garbage to be thrown into the tank 1, an agitating means (agitating blades 6, etc.), for intermittently agitating/mixing the organic matter to be thrown into the tank 1 with the housed carriers, an air discharging passage 15 for discharging exhaust gas to the outside through a deodorizing device 18 for heating and deodorizing the exhaust gas from the tank 1 and a control means for controlling the heating temperature of the device 18 according to the action of the agitating means. This control means controls so that the heating temperature of the device 18 is adjusted to a prescribed higher temperature before starting the operation of the agitating means and the heating temperature of the device 18 is adjusted from the higher temperature to a prescribed lower temperature after a fixed time passes since the operation of the agitating means is stopped.
