PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve durability in the vacuum, high and low temperature and corrosion environment by forming and hardening a rolling element of a bearing and a sliding contact portion of a sliding contact part by thermosetting resin forming material with dimensions previously allowing shrinkage at the time of baking to form a carbonization-baked glass-like carbon compact. SOLUTION: In this bearing, a rolling element and at least a sliding contact portion of a sliding contact part are formed of glass-like carbon, which is formed by forming and hardening forming material mainly composed of thermosetting resin and carbonizing and baking the obtained compact. As resin, granular or liquid-like various thermosetting resins are used, and preferably phenol resin is used. As molding, cited are injection molding, pressing molding and the like. When molding is performed with a metal mold with dimensions previously allowing shrinkage at the time of baking, a complicated shape can be directly obtained to be excellent in mass productivity. Carbonization baking is performed at 900 to 2000 deg.C in a vacuum, inert or reducing atmosphere. Thus, the bearing is excellent in corrosion resistance at a low temperature and at a high temperature, and even in vacuum and high temperature environment, a mass change is not caused in the bearing so that it is excellent in wear resistance. |
