PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display controller capable of displaying a desired area by reducing burden to the fingers of a user through simple intuitive operation in the case of displaying the partial area of a picture in a size exceeding a displayable area. SOLUTION: A CPU 2 generates virtual picture data by reading picture data from a storage device 4 concerning a picture exceeding the size displayable on a display device 8 and sets a prescribed area on the generated virtual picture as a display area to be displayed on a display screen. When the pressure sensor of a pointing device 7 is pressed, a signal showing the pressing level of the pressure sensor is outputted from an input device 6 to the CPU 2 so that the display area is moved on the virtual picture by the CPU 2 corresponding to the detected quantity of the pressure sensor.
