PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic flowmeter having a simple and inexpensive formation capable of detecting a flow rate of fluid accompanied by pulsation and a rapid change of the flow state, such as exhaust gas of an automobile or the like, with excellent following of performance. SOLUTION: This ultrasonic flowmeter is so composed that an ultrasonic wave is propagated in the flow direction and in the reverse direction in fluid, and that time required for propagation to both directions between pairs of transducers T11, T12; T21, T22 are measured, and that a flow rate or a flow velocity of the fluid is calculated from the measured ultrasonic waves. The pairs of transducers T11, T12; T21, T22 are arranged so that line segments connecting the pairs keep crossing anglesθsmaller than 45 degrees, and preferably larger than 15 degrees relative to the flow direction of the fluid to be measured.
