PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information retrieval device which makes it easy to reach target information and reduce the workload of browsing to reach the target information by enabling a layer creator to perform retrieval in arbitrary retrieval order irrelevantly to classified categories as far as layers can be generated. SOLUTION: To the Internet 300, a WWW server 100 and clients C1 to Cn are connected. The WWW server 100 inputs retrieval words or phrases from the clients C1 to Cn and retrieves layers constituted by HTML(hypertext mark-up language) files in a storage device 62 according to the inputted retrieval words or phrases; when layers corresponding to the retrieval words or phrases are searched for, those layers are integrated including shortcuts for referring to URL(uniform resource locator) information below the layers to generate a layer for retrieval, which is added to a currently browsed layer.
