PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to deal with a remedy for environmental problems, to suppers power consumption and to make the above display friendly to the human body by printing or coating the rear or front surface of a material which is capable of transmitting light within a blank, such as acrylic plastic or glass, with a fluorescent substance or a phosphorescent substance and irradiating the same with a blue or white light emitting diode. SOLUTION: The rear surface or front surface of the material 1 which is capable of transmitting light within the blank, such as acrylic plastic or glass, is printed or coated with a fluorescent or a phosphorescent substance 3 and is irradiated with the blue or white light emitting diode 2. The display is thus composed of the structure to allow the incidence of the light of the blue or white light emitting diode from the sectional direction of the acrylic plastic, glass, etc., such that the rear surface of the acrylic plastic, etc., is printed with contents desired to be expressed, such as characters, marks and pictures, by using the fluorescent or a phosphorescent substance 3. The degradation in luminance and color irregularity occur on the surface to be subjected to printing and coating but even the front surface side is sufficiently usable as the light emitting display. There are methods of using this display as a light emitting display for stores, a light emitting display for advertisement and further, as an emergency lamp, road display, etc.
