PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the silver halide photographic sensitive material superior in color reproducibility and storage stability of an obtained image and especially enhanced in lightfastness and reduced in fog and fluctuation of gradation even in the case of rapid processing and good in latent image stability. SOLUTION: This silver halide photographic sensitive material is provided with silver halide emulsion layers and at least one of the emulsion layers contains a dye-forming coupler represented by the formula in which each of R1 and R2 is an alkyl group; each of R3 and R4 is an H atom or an alkyl group; J is a -O-C(=O)-, -N(R7)CO-, or -N(R7)SO2- group; R5 is an alkyl or alkoxy group or the like; and Cp is a dye-forming coupler residue. The emulsion layer containing the dye-forming coupler contains photosensitive silver halide grains having a silver chloride content of >=90 mol %, and a compound A of a metal of group of VIII-X of the periodic table is added into the inside of a >= 0.01μm depth from the surface of each silver halide grain.
