PURPOSE: A device is provided to convert the number of lines of input image signals and to display an image employing a simple constitution in an electrooptical device having a scanning line driving circuit. CONSTITUTION: A scanning line driving circuit(104) is provided with a transfer direction control circuit(141) which controls the transfer directions of start pulses(DY), a shift register(142) which shifts the pulses(DY) supplied from the circuit(141) in accordance with clock signals(CLY), and an output selecting circuit(143) which selects output signals(N1out, N2out,...Nmout) based on first enable signals(ENBY1) and second enable signals(ENBY2) By controlling the signals(ENBY1,ENBY2) based on the number of lines of input image signals, thinning and interval expanding processes are executed.
