PURPOSE: Disclosed is a method for manufacturing an electrical connector that enables the electric connector to be used as it is repeatedly compressed, and that can make compression uniform at low pressure. CONSTITUTION: Metallic thin films(3) are formed on the outer peripheral surface of a cylindrical, insulating elastomer(1) to form a multilayer film(4) and a plurality of ring grooves(5) are arranged in an axially spaced, side-by-side relationship with one another on the metallic thin films(3) of the multilayer tube(4), with the elastomer(1) exposed from each ring groove(5). The plurality of metallic thin films(3) on the multilayer tube(4) are covered with a thin conductive plating layer(6), after which the multilayer tube(4) is cut at predetermined axial intervals to manufacture an electric connector. The conductive plating layer(6) is sufficiently thin and has sufficient required strength to flexibly cope with changes in the shape of the elastomer(1) and it can be expected to prevent buckling caused by compressive force. Since the thin conductive plating layer(6) does not affect the elasticity of the elastomer(1) initial characteristics will not be lost even if compression is repeated.
