摘要

PURPOSE: Graphite particles for cathodes of e.g. lithium ion batteries are provided to improve rapid charge/discharge characteristics and cycle characteristics and to reduce irreversible capacity at the first cycle. CONSTITUTION: Graphite particles comprise natural veined graphite or flake graphite particle clusters with specified average diameter, specific surface and apparent density values. Graphite particles comprise natural veined graphite or flake graphite particle clusters having a D50 diameter of 8-22 microns as measured by laser beam diffraction, a specific surface of 2.5-6 m2/g as measured by nitrogen gas adsorption and an apparent density of 0.25 g/cm3 before compaction and 0.55 g/cm3 after compaction, the apparent density after compaction being 1.8-2.5 times that before compaction.
