PURPOSE: A composite display device is provided to enhance the assembling property and the replaceability of a display or the like by a method wherein a second display which can see through a first display is arranged on the surface side of the first display, and a driving device for the second display is provided at an annular facing plate which is assembled from the surface side of the second display. CONSTITUTION: A speedometer(S), a tachometer, a gage and a warning device are provided at this display device. For example, a driving device(20), a dial(30) and a pointer(40) are provided at the speedometer(S). The dial(30) is constituted in such a way that an arcuate display pattern(31) is elevated in an inclined shape toward the surface side from its central part(32). The dial(30) is illuminated in such a way that light is incident through a light guiding plate, installed along the rear of the dial(30), from a cold cathode-ray tube which is supported inside a casing(10). The pointer(40) is supported by the tip of a pointer shaft(22) which passes the through hole of the dial(30). In addition, the speedometer(S) is provided with an electroluminescence(EL) panel(50) which is supported in parallel to the dial(30) inside an annular facting plate(60). The EL panel(50) digitally displays a vehicle speed on the inner circumferential side of the graduation part(31) on the dial(30).
