PURPOSE: Provided are both a heald excellent in abrasion resistance by using a high-strength belt member and ensuring a contact surface of end eyes with heald supporting rails and a method for producing the heald. CONSTITUTION: This heald(1) is obtained by providing lateral side parts of respective end eyes(3,3') so as to laterally shift from the belt width of the heald(1) and protrude therefrom and forming press molded parts isolated from the periphery of at least one end of the respective eyes(3,3') in the periphery and thereby forming land parts extending vertically in the longitudinal direction of the heald(1) among the end eyes(3,3') and the press molded parts in the heald(1) having at least the two end eyes(3,3') and one eye(2) and formed of a beltlike member.
