PURPOSE: To provide an adhesive having excellent properties for use in treating a textile reinforcing member. CONSTITUTION: The adhesive comprises a water borne dispersion for use in treating a reinforcing member used for the production of a reinforced polymeric member. The adhesive comprises a solid component and additives, and the water borne dispersion has 55-85 wt.% of the solid component, the average particle size of the solid component being less than 2.0 micrometer. The average particle size of a solid component may be less than 1.50 micrometer. Furthermore, 80% of the solid component has preferably a particle size between 0.01 and 5 micrometer. More preferably, the solid component has a particle size between 0.5 and 5 micrometer. The solid component may constitute 65-75 wt.% of the dispersion. The adhesive may be an isocyanate or a blocked isocyanate which is partially or completely blocked. The polymeric member may be a rubber member. The reinforcing member is preferably a textile reinforcing member, and is preferably made of a polyester, polyethylene, a polyamide, Ryan, or a composite of these materials. A wetting agent and/or a dispersing agent may be includes as an additive.
