PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for generating scrambling codes of a mobile communication system are provided which uses mask function to create scrambling codes that are grouped in unit of a predetermined length, minimizing hardware complexity. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for generating scrambling codes of a mobile communication system generates the first scrambling code allocated to a base station and a plurality of second scrambling codes for channel separation. The apparatus includes the first m-sequence generator(750) for generating the first m-sequence, the second m-sequence generator for generating the second m-sequence, and the first adder for adding the first and second m-sequences to each other to generate the first scrambling code. The apparatus further has a plurality of first masking parts(710,712,714,716) for outputting the second m-sequence that is obtained by shifting the second m-sequency one time to generate the first scrambling codes among the second scrambling codes, and a plurality of adders(740,742,744) for adding the shifted second m-sequence and the first m-sequence to each other to generate the second scrambling codes. |
