PURPOSE: Provided is a method for producing a stable crystalline 5- methyltetrahydrofolate. CONSTITUTION: This method is to produce a stable crystalline salt of 5-methyl-(6 R,S)-, 5-methyl-(6S)- and 5-methyl-(6R)-tetrahydrofolic acid. The crystallization is carried out by using water or an organic solvent miscible with the water, e.g. an alcohol, ethylene glycol, acetic acid, lactic acid, formamide, DMF or 1-methylpyrrolidone as a polar medium after treatment at more than 60 deg.C temperature. The salt is used as a nutritive auxiliary substance and a formulation containing the salt.
