PURPOSE: A method and a device for matching a display frame rate are provided to track a received video picture frequency by comparing the picture frame rate of a received signal with the display frame rate of a receiver, controlling the number of displayed lines per field or frame and generating a display frame rate control signal for the receiver. CONSTITUTION: A receiver(100) has two signal processing paths for analog signal processing and digital signal processing, and the processing can be executed while using an analog or digital dedicated receiver. A raster generator(105) receives the number of lines per field (1pf) as input and generates suitable vertical and horizontal synchronizing signals Vert and Horiz. Since vertical synchronism Vsync is generated for each line per field inside the raster generator(105), concerning the control of 1pf as needed, the start of the rising edge of a fly-back pulse is advanced or delayed.
