PURPOSE: To improve facility by arranging a display area opened for a user in a display image screen of an image display means in a device for displaying a visible image on the image display means by forming the image on the basis of image pickup data gathered from an examinee. CONSTITUTION: In this device for displaying a visible image on a display part 10 by forming the image by processing echo data inputted from a transmitting/ receiving part connected with an ultrasonic probe by a data processing part, before picking up the image, the display image screen constitution of the display part 10 can be designed by data processing in a CPU on the basis of operation of an operation part by an operator to thereby obtain (a) the image screen constitution for laterally juxtaposing display divisions of a picked-up image, that is, a scan image 902 and an external image display division, that is, a user using area 904 opened for a user or to obtain (b) the image screen constitution for partially overlapping the scan image 902 and the user using area 904.
