摘要 PURPOSE: A method is provided to make efficiently producible a polarized light conversion element by producing a block substrate including plural light transmissive blocks from a composite plate. CONSTITUTION: Three 1st glass(322a) and two 2nd glass sheets(322) are alternately disposed between the upper and middle ones of three 3rd glass sheets(323) and between the middle and lower ones respectively and they are struck together with an optical adhesive(327) in such a way that polarized light separating films(331) and reflecting films(322) are alternately disposed at the interfaces between the glass sheets(323,321) and between the glass sheets(321,322) to produce a composite plate(500). This composite plate(500) is nearly parallel cut along 1st sections at a prescribed angleθto the plane of the plate(500) to obtain a block substrate. A light incident face and a light emergent face parallel to the 1st sections of the block substrate are ground and polished and the substrate is divided in a part comprising the middle one of the 3rd glass sheets(323) to produce two light transmissive blocks.
