METHOD FOR WIRELESS DATA COMMUNICATION USING ASYMMETRICAL CHANNEL ALLOCATION

PURPOSE: A method for transferring data from a base station to a mobile terminal at a high-speed is provided by using an additional broadband communication channel that assists communication served by a link in a reverse direction (from mobile station to base station) and in a forward direction (from base station to mobile station) employed by a cellular communication system or a PCS communication system. CONSTITUTION: A standard forward direction and reverse direction link is used for a control channel for data transfer on the additional forward broadband channel and for voice and low speed data traffic. Furthermore, communication executed on the narrow band forward link channel is transmitted on the additional broadband forward channel to eliminate need for the narrow band forward link channel. A mobile terminal has a conventional FDD(frequency division duplex) section (210) and an additional section (220). The additional section (220) receives data communicated through the broadband additional channel.
