Disclosed are a mobile terminal and a controlling method thereof. The mobile terminal comprises: a body where a first area bends towards the front or rear surface of a second area or a third area bends towards the front or rear surface of the second area; a touch screen which is bent if the body bends; a sensing unit for sensing changes in the shape of the first or third area bending; and a control unit for executing a second item in the touch screen, supported by the predetermined area, if a change in the shape is sensed while a first item is displayed on the touch screen, to correspond to changes in the shape sensed in the first, second and third areas of the body. According to the present invention, the mobile terminal is capable of displaying an item corresponding to a predetermined area in the touch screen, by sensing the bending of the body including the flexible touch screen.
