PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the explosion of a battery to improve the safety by susceptively sensing the abnormal situations of the battery such as the overcharging, the short circuit, the leaving under high temperature and the heating from the external by mounting a case opening means capable of opening an case when an internal temperature of the case reaches a predetermined temperature. SOLUTION: A case opening means is mounted in the case 1 of a cylindrical nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery for opening the case 1 when an internal temperature of the battery reaches a predetermined temperature. As the case opening means, for example, a rupture member 14 capable of expanding and contracting when the internal temperature of the battery reaches the predetermined temperature to be contacted with a wall surface of the case for rupturing the case 1, is mounted. The rupture member 14 is mounted inside of the battery, for example, on a conductive plate 9 or a wall surface of the case 1 or the like so that it is expanded when the internal temperature of the battery rises and reaches the predetermined temperature, and contacted with the wall surface of the case 1 at least at its one end to rupture the same. A material and the shape of the rupture member 14 are not restricted so far as it is expanded and contracted at a predetermined temperature to rupture the case 1. |
