PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform rapid and accurate speed change without complicating a control system. SOLUTION: This device comprises a reduction gear to reduce the rotation speed of an electric motor 26; a cam disc 18 coupled to a shift lever to effect speed change of the transmission; a cam follower brought into elastic contact with the cam disc and holding the shift lever in its speed change position; a transmission member to transmit a rotation output reduced by a reduction gear in a rotation direction to the cam disc through a play; a sensor 56 to detect the present position of the shift lever; and a control part to output a stop command to the electric motor 26 at a point of time when a present position detected by the sensor reaches a position, situated this side, from a speed change command position by a given angle. In this case, rotation to a final speed change command position depends upon the elastic contact force of the cam follower.
