PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a fiber material for a toothed belt wherein as a fiber material to cover the surface of the tooth part of a toothed belt is continuously thermocompression-bonded through ultrasonic vibration, the vicinity thereof is melted and cut to form a joint, the strength of the joint part is increased and a joint height is decreased and a tooth part is filled with rubber. SOLUTION: This method is for manufacturing a fiber material to cover the surface of the tooth part of a toothed belt. One end part 29 of one of two canvases 3 laminated with each other is situated between the tool horn 4 of an ultrasonic device and a rotatable weld cut roller 5. The vicinity thereof is melted and cut as the weld cut roller 5 is forced into continuous thermocompression-bonding against the canvass 3 and the other end part 29 has the vicinity thereof melted and welded in a similar manner described above as the other end part is thermocompression-bonded to finish a cylindrical canvass with a given peripheral length.
