PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide coated fiber of an optical fiber having a small optical transmission time difference, by arranging in parallel plural fibers of a ribbon obtained by arranging in parallel plural optical fibers and coating them in a lump with a resin, and by coating the fibers of a ribbon in a lump with a resin. SOLUTION: This coated fiber of a optical fiber ribbon is so formed that plural fibers of a ribbon 3 obtained by arranging plural optical fibers 1 in a row in the width direction of the tape core wire 3 and coating them in a lump with a primary coating resin 2a, are coated in a lump with a secondary coating resin 2b, and that the whole optical fibers 1 are arranged in a row in the width direction of the coated fiber of an optical fiber ribbon 4. Elasticity of quadruple fiber of a ribbon 3 is about four times or more as high as that of a single optical fiber 1, therefore the strain quantity is small, even if some tension fluctuation is given. When a duodecuple fiber of a ribbon 4 is manufactured by using the quadruple fibers of a ribbon 3, the required number of the quadruple fibers of a ribbon 3 is three. It is required to control only three quadruple fibers of a ribbon 3, therefore it is easy to keep balance.
